Location: Elm Street Congregational Church, 31 Elm Street, Bucksport

This is a concert I’ll be performing with poet Richard Blanco. Richard is a deeply beautiful poet and human being. He is a Presidential Inaugural Poet, and this Spring he was awarded the National Humanities Medal. He’ll read some of his brand new works, I’ll play some old favorites of mine, and we’ll jam together. And as if that isn’t enough for ten dollars, we will also be joined by the great Maine tenor Francis Vogt. Together with him, we’ll premier a brand new piece I’ve written for “Poet, Singer, and Synthesizer.” You don’t want to miss that!

This concert is turning into one of my favorite annual events. It’s an exciting community scene, to which all kinds of people show up with their favorite beverages, lawn chairs, and bug spray. The fire department cordons off the block with big trucks and flashing lights, and it’s all in support of “The Little Library That Could”. I’ll play some of my songs, and maybe we’ll all do a couple of sing-alongs. And once again I’ll be featuring two outstanding Sedgwick musicians; violinist Chris Nemeth and his daughter Marie, who is also a superb violinist. They are truly excellent. And who knows, there may be other surprises. As we all know, Sedgwick is full of surprises. It’s a good time, PLUS, you’ll be helping them to put a desperately needed new roof on the place.
